Aerodyne Cyclone Dust Collectors and Pharmaceutical Product Reclamation

Industries such as food, pharmaceutical, precious metals and nutraceutical often require equipment that can be easily cleaned. Standard equipment is designed for function and low cost. Having quick and easy access is not normally standard. The way that traditional cyclones are designed isn’t necessarily always supportive of cleaning. Access doors can disrupt the airflow and lower the cyclone’s ability to filter dust properly. Body flange(s) can be used, but then support and ducting of the unit becomes tricky.
Why A Compact Cyclone?
Compact cyclones are ideal candidates for pharmaceutical facilities. Their size allows them to be placed in clean rooms, and since there are 7 models with internal volumes less than 8ft3, minimal additional explosion protection is required. Aerodyne’s compact cyclones are ideal for applications like these where easy access for cleaning and maintenance is imperative. Units are available with quick connect flange and easy clean access doors to make preventing cross contamination easy. 304 and 316 Stainless steel constructions with polish are also available.
The ability to configure cyclones horizontally offers access outside of the airstream so that the whole unit can be cleaned. Clamps, swing bolts and other quick connect fasteners can be used to
minimize cleaning times. Unlike traditional cyclones, where a body flange is required for access, horizontal cyclones have the ability to offer access without ductwork interference. Aerodyne’s GPC, often utilized as a cyclone pre-filter, is a strong example.

Because the GPC has a unique design with a ground plate, it’s able to filter 90% or more dust in most applications before it hits downstream fabric filters. This allows for on the spot collection of the product to be reconciled in bags, without leaving the suite. No more leaving the clean room, and significantly less product to hunt down.
