Vacu-Valves in the Foundry Industry
The Aerodyne Vacu-Valve is an inexpensive alternative to costly, high-maintenance rotary valves in the foundry and metal casting industry. Ideal for applications with sand and sand-like material, the Vacu-Valve uses the vacuum in the dust collector’s hopper to seal the system. Gravity then drives the collected material through the sleeve and out of the system.

The Vacu-Valve is available in two styles:
The Platypus:
The Platypus mounts to the hopper with a flange and has a sleeve that hangs down freely.
The Armadillo:
The Armadillo is essentially the same as the Platypus, but the sleeve is enclosed in steel and a lower flange is provided. Access doors are included for inspection and sleeve replacement.

Benefits of using a Vacu-Valve
- Costs less than 25% of a rotary valve
- No utilities (electricity, compressed air, etc.) required
- Excellent for high-abrasive applications; wearing parts are easily replaced
