An engineering company working with a peanut supplier to control peanut shell waste contacted Aerodyne in hopes of finding an appropriate dust collector for their application. Prior to contacting Aerodyne, the peanut company used six cyclones of various sizes to collect and dispose of the peanut waste, but they didn’t have any airlock valves under the cyclone. Consequently, waste dust was being carried to the clean outlet, with little success at actually containing the shell waste properly.

The Solution and Measurable Results

Following a thorough system evaluation, our engineering reps suggested that the company use an 8” Rotary “R” Valve as an airlock valve and install a fabric filter to increase the success rate of their dust removal attempts. R-Valves are designed for continuous discharge of free-flowing, low-abrasive dry solids in gravity flow or low-pressure systems. By  nature, peanut waste makes this product a perfect addition to the company’s current system. Aerodyne’s rotary valves have a steel plate construction that gives them an advantage over other valves in quality, flexibility and durability. Later, the installation of the R-Valve and fabric filter provided the peanut supplier with a high-performance airlock beneath their cyclones that boosted dust removal capabilities as a result of the fabric filter. This installation was in short, something to “go nuts” about.
